Overview

British RAF Wing Commander James Wright is captured by the Japanese during WWII and forced to fight in brutal hand-to-hand combat. The Japanese soldiers get more than they bargained for when Wright’s years of martial arts training in Hong Kong prove him to be a formidable opponent.

    "Prisoner of War" is a basic war movie with a martial arts theme that expands upon the antagonism and martial competition between a Western prisoner of war and his Japanese jailers. I felt this film could have built upon the core concept of a sort of camp kumite (martial arts tournament) but instead it leads into a watered down great escape scenario. Acting is reasonable and action is mostly well done. In summary, a basic war, martial arts film. Worth a look....
