Young girls are going missing so "Captain McVeigh" - a soon to retire policeman played here by HB Warner - is charged with finding out what's happening to them all. He suspects that Philip Van Zandt ("King Peterson") a local nightclub owner might have more information and we gradually discover the local district attorney (John Archer) is also involved - and he has quite a "stormy" relationship with journalist Astrid Allwyn ("Nora 'Butch' Page").
