"Howard" (Dirk Bogarde) arrives in colonial East Africa just as the Mau-Mau rebellion is gathering pace. His farm is adjacent to that of the "Crawford" family - Basil Sydney, Marie Ney and daughter "Mary" (Virginia McKenna).
