Season 3

1989 | 21 Episodes

The courageous soldiers of Bravo Company return for more extraordinary adventures in the third and final season of the groundbreaking Vietnam series Tour Of Duty. Joining the regular cast for the final season are John Dye (TV's "Touched By An Angel") and Kyle Chandler (TV's "Early Edition"). Special multi-episode guest stars include Lee Majors (TV's "The Six Million Dollar Man"), Carl Weathers (Rocky) and Greg Germann (TV's "Ally McBeal"). The men face their toughest challenges yet when their platoon (now called Team Viking) is transferred to Camp Barnett to become part of a Special Ops unit. This season delivers extreme combat action and intense human drama focusing on issues unique to the Vietnam era: the devastating effects of chemical warfare, the massacre of Vietnamese civilians, the growing problem of heroin addiction, and the difficulties the soldiers faced returning home to a country bitterly divided by war. The powerful third season, collected on this five-disc, 21-episode set, is a fitting finale to one of the greatest war dramas ever.

When I first watched Tour of Duty as a young teen in the early 90s, I was far too preoccupied with Danny Percell's baby blues to take in much else that was going on onscreen. Now, a little older (though I have my doubts about wiser), and able to function a little more normally even when faced with such sights (seriously though... those eyes!), I would just like to take a moment to comment on what a fantastic character Sgt Zeke Anderson is. He doesn't only hold the platoon together on the show, but does much the same for the show itself too. I have my doubts as to whether the show would be even...
